Skills section: Include specific model families (GPT-4 / GPT-4o, Claude 3 / Claude 3.5, Gemini, Mistral, Llama variants), frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, DSPy, Instructor, Semantic Kernel), evaluation tools (RAGAS, LangSmith, custom eval pipelines), and supporting skills (Python, JSON schema, vector databases, embedding models).

Technical Competencies to Demonstrate

RAG architecture. Retrieval-Augmented Generation is now a standard architecture for many enterprise AI products. Understanding how retrieval quality affects generation quality, how to tune chunking and retrieval strategies, and how to design prompts that make effective use of retrieved context is a core competency for many prompt engineering roles.


Addressing the "Is This a Real Job?" Skepticism

Some interviewers and hiring managers genuinely believe that prompt engineering will be automated or made irrelevant as models become more capable of self-instructing. You may encounter this skepticism.
